Twins! (with a couple photos now)

Hey blogging friends.

Just thought I'd let you know that my brave wife gave birth to twin boys on Thursday morning at 10:05 and 10:28 am. The first was 6lbs13oz and came by natural birth; the second was 6lbs8oz by C-section. Long story short: It was a chaotic half hour with a very happy ending.

So, the oldest twin is named Jesse Ransom Coutts.
The youngest is Mattias Gabriel Coutts.

Perhaps some time I'll tell you about them and/or about the experience but for now I'm going to bed. I might be a little preoccupied for awhile, but if you want something to do when and if you visit here you can tell me where you think the names come from.

Peace,
Jon

Glad to hear it all went fine! If you were here in Montreal I would buy you a Stoggie, perhaps a Montecristo?

Congrats! Praying for a quick recovery for Angie.

Nobody is playing the name guessing game so I'll start.

Jesse - from Full House
Ransom - The great Mel Gibson movie

Mattias - no brainer, Ohlund
Gabriel - another no brainer, the great CBC soccer alumnis by the same name

Did I go 4 for 4?

Ransom - like from CS Lewis's Space Trilogy? That's got to be it. Plus it's just a great name with such great meaning.
Gabriel - the angel?
Jesse - David's father?
Mattias - hmmmmm...

Hello jon (and angie jesse mattias elijah brady)

I think I like Dave's suggestions. Its nice to think of Jesse from full house - they were a good family. they worked through things, told each other the truth...lived in a cool little place in the city.

Congratulations, thanks for bringing more Coutts into the world - just what we all need. More Coutts boys. (serious)

Congratulations Jon and Angie! What a blessing! Now I've had two c-sections, but I can't imagine a c-section and caring for twins. I hope Angie gets lots of rest, and has a ton of help! And I'll pray for a quick recovery and twins who have a similar sleep schedule!

thanks all. angie is doing well in recovery, though it takes time. twins are home now.

funny "guesses" on the names tanti, seeing as you probably already knew.

Matthew got Ransom right. (I also like the theological implications of the name but it was really all about the main character in CS Lewis fantastic space trilogy).

Here are the others:

Continuing the fictional character theme, Gabriel is the name of Chesterton's man who was Thursday.

Mattias is just a name we like, although Tanti's is probably not far off in referring to old CBC soccer stars. Matty and Gabe were both stud defenders back in the day and that may have subconsciously worked its way into our liking these names.

Besides just being names we like, Jesse is named after a friend in college who had a real impact on my life in my "coming of age" years. There is also a Jessie on the Coutts' side a few generations back.

Joel, maybe someday i'll take you up on that! Is that a Montecristo as in the sandwich?
